Update 020508

I am delighted to share with you all a beautiful gift just received from my dear friend Brigitte =Dragonfly113

Very beautiful it is indeed as is her very impressive gallery. For those of you unfamiliar with her work I recommend a visit!

Thank you so much again my dear

--------------------------------------------------------------------

Hi All.

Sorry I have not been here much of late to cope with comments and faves and stuff like that. Much of the last 2 weeks has been taken up with downgrading Leopard and Vista. Vista was a cinch and I have had Tiger back up and running and purring beautifully this last week. Vista on the other hand....

I´d like to thank HP and Micro$oft both for providing me with a challenge they must have thought was reserved only for their top technicians. Anyone else out there who might have a new HP with a dynamic HD and set up on a raid system will know what I´m talking about, not to mention the bizarre HD geometry that Partition Magic won´t work on!!!

Well Carpe Diem to both companies.... I ain´t gonna let those buggers grind me down! Further along the line I might give linux another go now that I have the drive back in a sensible state and we´ll see how that goes. For now I´m delighted to have ´returned the compliment. I can now use a range of Apps I had previously on XP which didn´t work on Vista and the vendors seemingly had no plans to upgrade. KPT for one thing does not give me any problems on XP and on Vista you couldn´t save fractals, gradients, nothing!

If Vista is supposed to be the future of Computing then I´m Bill Gates Lawyer!

Vista = Windows Millennium II and is a gamers operating system only (and only if you have a computer with the combined power of the universe). If you want to try Linux Ubuntu 8.04 is out and is getting massive good vibes from Norwegian IT magz these days.

Hello by the way :) just poppin by to see how youre doi'n.

Oh NO! So KPT doesn't work with Vista? Bummerrrr.. I love that facility, and Corel (having taken it over) obviously don't intend upgrading it either!

Thanks my friend... I am keeping up with The Ubuntu project, particularly developments vis a vis the partnership with Michael Dell. This can only be a good thing and might even be a case of hasta la vista Windows before too long. Michael Dell's personal Laptop runs Ubuntu (fact) and I believe it is his vision to entirely replace Windows with either Linux or the Mac Operation Systems. Indeed Dell were the only PC manufacturer to support (without quibble) Downgrading Vista and even supported the move with suitable drivers.

You're right about the games by the way I bought and played Call of Duty 4 and it ran very nively on Vista - about the only thing that did (once you managed to get it open!)

You can install KPT 5 and even render with it but it will not let you save presets within the application. Also it disappears off screen and you have to click the photoshop titlebar to bring it back......

You can produce limited stuff with it. I had XP installed on Parallels in Mac and used it for the majority of my KPT stuff. Vista simply didn't cut it!

Likewise I hate Corel... with the exception of Painter. Arguably it was a better product when Procreate had it just like PSP was under Jasc. Procreate though, as far as I know was always a division of Corel so beats me why they suddenly changed the name to Corel - an instant turn off imho!

I'd like to get a new computer, but I don't want Vista after all the horrible things I've heard. I had Windows ME on my older computer, it was so unstable it was a nightmare I don't want to repeat.
